Level and firm

Pavement, gravel or dry grass. Skip soft lawn after rain and steep slopes.

Measure your gate

A standard unit is about 44 inches wide, so the gate needs at least 48 inches.

15 ft

Close to the truck

Keep the unit within about 15 feet of where a pickup can park, for weekly service.

20 ft

Away from food

At least 20 feet from food tables, downwind if you can. Door faces the path, not the neighbors.

A cone or ribbon is enough. Nobody needs to be home.
